Known as Sanibel and Captiva’s home for all the arts, BIG ARTS has been providing cultural enrichment and fulfillment to island residents and visitors since 1979. BIG ARTS began when a group of artists dreamed of a cultural center on the island. Today, BIG ARTS members and participants enjoy a wide spectrum of performing and visual arts events, and the community participates in more than 200 educational classes and workshops each year.
A unique and special place rich in history that has been serving both Sanibel and Captiva Islands since 1927. Operated by the Sanibel Community Association (SCA), we are a 501 c 3 Organization whose mission is "To enrich community spirit through educational, cultural, and social gatherings in our historic Community House."
CROW operates one of the country's leading wildlife rehabilitation facilities on its 12.5-acre campus on Sanibel Island, Florida. The 4,800-square-foot hospital opened in 2009. Each year, over 4,000 sick, injured and orphaned wildlife patients receive care from CROW's staff veterinarians, clinicians and volunteers, as well as from students enrolled in CROW's wildlife medicine programs. Treatments and rehabilitation services employ both eastern and western approaches to care.
The "Ding" Darling Wildlife Society – Friends of the Refuge is the non-profit 501c3 organization which raises support to benefit the work at the "Ding" Darling Refuge in the areas of conservation, habitat and wildlife protection and education. Support has ranged from funding intern programs; purchasing research equipment; providing transportation for school children; educational programming; scholarships to budding environmentalists, to building new trails and boardwalks.
The non-profit Bailey-Matthews Shell Museum features more than 30 exhibits of mollusks from around the world. Exhibits are devoted to shells in art and history, shell habitat, rare specimens, fossil shells, common Southwest Florida shells, and more. The learning lab features a hands-on play area for children, displays, games, and a tank with indigenous mollusks.
The Sanibel-Captiva Conservation Foundation is dedicated to the conservation of coastal habitats and aquatic resources on Sanibel and Captiva and in the surrounding watershed. SCCF manages over 1300 acres of land on the islands
The mission of F.I.S.H. is to lend a helping hand to those in need who live, work or visit Sanibel and Captiva by providing free services such as transportation, food pantry, meal delivery, health equipment, and emergency financial assistance through a group of volunteers who care about enhancing the quality of life for all those who request help.
PURRE is a nonprofit organization whose members and partners are committed to improving the health and productivity of the rivers and estuaries of South Florida.

START (Solutions To Avoid Red Tide) is committed to scientific research and educational outreach. The research we support is focused on the control and mitigation of Harmful Algae Blooms (HABs) such as red tide to help maintain coastal water quality. Our educational outreach goal is to inform the public about the health, environmental and economic impacts of Harmful Algae Blooms.
