Planning to be on Sanibel and Captiva for July 4th? The Island has all sorts of events and experiences leading up to the fireworks that will enhance the fun and for America’s birthday.
Sanibel 4th of July Events:
Free Pancake Breakfast at the Sanibel Community Church, 1740 Periwinkle Way, 7am to 9am
Sanibel’s Annual 4th of July Parade starts at 9:30 am. Grab your beach chairs and park them along Periwinkle Way. Parade begins at Tarpon Bay Road and Periwinkle (Bailey’s Center) ending at Periwinkle and Casa Ybel Road (Jerry’s Center).
Jerry’s Celebration After the Parade– 1700 Periwinkle Way, 10:30 am Jerry’s Shopping Center
Waterslide, food, & refreshments.
Sanibel Fireworks at 9:00 pm, rain or shine sponsored by the City of Sanibel. Fireworks will be set off at the end of Bailey Road. (Bayside) The Best place to see them would be from the spoil Islands along the causeway. You can see them from Lighthouse Beach, on the eastern side of the Lighthouse near the fishing pier.
The weekend also includes the annual Sanibel CaptivaOptimist Club’s 4th of July Road Rally, which will kick off at noon from the Timbers Restaurant/Sanibel Grill parking lot. 2018 marks 38 years for the Road Rally, which features clues along a driving course around the island. A variety of prizes will be awarded for correct time and mileage, correct clue answers, best-decorated vehicles, and the team coming from the farthest location. Be sure to stay for the “afterglow” party after the event concludes!
